Ceiling Fan Installation Sydney

Optimise Your Comfort Year-Round

Looking to keep your home’s temperature comfortable all year while being energy efficient and cost-effective? Installing a ceiling fan alongside your air conditioner can help you do just that. Whether it’s summer or winter, ceiling fans are practical all year round.

When required, they can work independently from AC units, taking the edge off milder summer days, while requiring less energy expenditure to enhance comfort. Or, they can be used in tandem with an air conditioner, working to circulate air evenly throughout your space and stabilising temperatures faster.

These applications take pressure off your AC and, as a result, increase energy savings in the long run.

Why Install Ceiling Fans

Year-Round Comfort

Ceiling fans can cool during the summer and disperse warm air in the winter.

Energy-efficient

Reduce long periods of AC by combining temperature control efforts with ceiling fans.

Safety

Free-standing fans can add clutter to a space and take up power outlet space. Ceiling fans are out of the way and won’t overload your power points.

Ceiling Fans by Season: How It All Works

Regardless of the time of year, ceiling fans do an excellent job of making your living or workspace a comfortable environment. Whether a ceiling fan helps cool or warm a room is all about the direction it spins.

Summer

In the summer, setting a fan to move counterclockwise creates a direct downdraft breeze and circulates cool air around the room. When an AC is expelling cold air into a space, adding a ceiling fan will create a breeze, allowing you to keep your AC unit on a lower level while remaining comfortable.

Winter

In winter, a fan rotating clockwise at a low speed gently pushes down the hottest air in the room that has collected at the ceiling. As an AC warms a room and the hot air rises, a ceiling fan will continuously suck up cool air in the room while pushing down and dispersing the warm air. This effect is particularly useful for properties with high ceilings.

What are the Benefits?

Ceiling fans are cheap to run and effective all year round, no matter the season or temperature. When paired with an AC, the desired temperature control of a space is easier to achieve and allows you to maximise your comfort. When you reduce your air conditioning use and replace it with a ceiling fan, this can cut energy use by 76% percent.

Inspection & Consultation

What’s Involved in a Ceiling Fan Installation

Ready to have a ceiling fan installed? Alliance Climate Control is here to make sure you get the most out of your ceiling fan. When you’ve chosen where you want ceiling fan installations, we’ll make sure to recommend what fixtures will best suit the space by conducting:

home safety check
  1. Space Inspection: We’ll measure the height, width, and availability of the space you’ve chosen and recommend a fan that will fit. For smaller rooms, like bedrooms, smaller fans with smaller blades will work best. For larger rooms, like living rooms, bigger fans with bigger blades will work more efficiently. If you have already purchased a fan, we can ensure it’s the right fan for the room size.
  2. Safety & Wire Check: Before we begin any work, we will inspect the electrical systems of your home and determine whether existing wiring circuits and power supplies can be used. If a new circuit is required, this will be a more complex job, but it will ensure optimal power expenditure and handle higher power loads.
  3. Quote: Once all of our inspections are complete, we will provide you with a written quote and carefully explain the full installation process.
  4. Mount & Install: Once we’ve identified the correct circuit pathway, we can assemble the fan, install the hardware, connect the wires, and attach the motor.
  5. Test: After everything is installed, we’ll test your new fan and make sure it’s in working order.

At Alliance Climate Control, we have a 100% service satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime workmanship warranty. That means we won’t stop working until you’re happy with our work.

Types of Ceiling Fans

Indoor vs. Outdoor Ceiling Fans

Indoor and outdoor ceiling fans have different operations based on their environments and will have differing energy expenditure and cost effectiveness.

Indoor fans are designed for interior spaces that are climate-controlled. Lightweight materials like wood, plastic, and other materials that do not require weatherproofing. Most indoor fans use motors that are designed for optimising airflow in indoor spaces. Because of these factors, they tend to be cheaper to install and more energy efficient.

On the other hand, outdoor fans are built for open or semi-open areas, like covered patios, and are aimed at providing airflow, humidity management, and moisture reduction. These fan types require more durable materials with anti-corrosion finishes. Stronger woods, metals, and plastics are used for outdoor fans, and their motors usually require extra insulation and protective sealing. Damp-rated or weatherproof motors are necessary for maintaining performance and can require specialised power sources. While outdoor fan installation can be more expensive, with the right motor, it can have long-term savings.

Smart Fans

There are a variety of new technologies that can be integrated with your home appliances, including in your ceiling fans. Smart controls like voice commands, remote operations from phones, and automated timers can optimise your living space and improve comfort. When choosing what ceiling fan to install in your space, consider what smart controls you may like to include.

Light Kits

A Fan combined with a light fitting provides a dual function, keeping your rooms well-lit and air circulated properly. Light-fan kits also streamline the installation process. You’ll be able to save on ceiling space for smaller rooms and avoid multiple interruptions to your power supply, while getting the installation jobs done in one go. There are also affordable package options available, allowing you to save money on paying for both items.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade or replace your current ceiling fan, install a new fan, or need repair services on your devices, Alliance Climate Control is available to tackle any job. Our fully licensed electricians ensure all safety regulations are followed, and we offer upfront pricing before we begin work on your property.

AC vs. DC motors

There are two key types of fan motors: AC and DC. AC motors are often more affordable in their initial installation and come in a variety of styles, sizes and control options. However, AC motors tend to consume more energy, make more noise, and only offer 3-4 speed settings.

Alternatively, DC motors have a higher upfront cost, while saving costs over time. Compared to AC motors, DC motors use up to 70% less power and are significantly quieter when operating. They also have 6 or more speed settings, giving you greater precision over your airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ceiling fans can affect your sinuses by drying out nasal passages or circulating irritants like dust, pollen, or allergens. To mitigate these effects, you can use a humidifier to counteract the dry air, avoid direct airflow, and most importantly, regularly clean your fan blades and living space.

The cost of installing a ceiling fan will depend on the type of fan being installed and whether an electrician can use an existing circuit or needs to implement a new one.

On average, installation will cost between $150 and $350 for labour per fan. A replacement job will be cheaper, and cost more between $100 and $250. Any new wiring or circuit routing will add to costs.

Alliance Climate Control will always provide you with a quote before we begin work, ensuring you’re satisfied with what changes are going to be made to your home. We also offer a lifetime workmanship warranty and 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.

Yes, we offer fan replacement services. At Alliance Climate Control, we cover everything from repairs, installations, maintenance, and upgrades in our electrical work. We have over 15 years of experience as part of the Alliance Climate Control family and are ready to take on any job that comes our way.

The best ceiling fan for outdoor areas are fans made of durable materials and designed for a variety of weather conditions. Wet-rated or IP-rated designs made of ABS plastic or 316 stainless steel blades work best for these scenarios.

The type of fan you choose will depend on the outdoor environment it will be working in. Coastal spray, high humidity, and direct rain may require additional finishing or coating to help prevent corrosion or rust.

The average time it takes to install a ceiling fan is 30-90 minutes, but it may take longer depending on the complexity of the task, roof space, and whether new wiring is needed.

Alliance Climate Control prioritises quality and efficient work, aiming for 100% customer satisfaction guarantee with all our workmanship. We won’t stop until you’re happy with our work.

Yes, an electrician is needed to install or replace a ceiling fan. According to Australian Standards AS/NZS 3000:2018 on electrical installations and wiring, fan installations require specific wiring methods and correct isolation, both of which need to be carried out by a licensed professional.

Additionally, licensed electricians know other safety standards around testing electrical systems, are insured to carry out their work, and know how to properly install equipment.

Alliance Climate Control team is made up of fully qualified electricians who are fully insured to take on ceiling fan installations, replacements or repairs. We conduct a full site inspection and a written quote before we begin any work.
